Hello! My name is Tyler Hilton and I am a current high school senior from central New Jersey interested in studying music business with the intention of building a career in the music industry. I look forward to a career related to A&R, marketing, and/or artist management in my future and I am eager to dive right in through my studies, internships, and experiences at the collegiate level. Throughout my life, I have been involved in music, both as a vocalist and instrumentalist. However, during high school, I have also discovered a passion for work "behind the scenes" as it relates to music.
I have held numerous leadership roles both in my school and surrounding community where I have been able to put my efforts toward the creation, advancement, and promotion of music and concerts. As the representative of my high school's chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society, I communicate thoroughly with administration and clubs to organize numerous school concerts. Outside of school, I serve as the high school representative for my township's arts coalition, helping to organize and promote township concerts at the local amphitheater. Both oppurtunities have given me experience in concert promotion, specifically by way of social media. Thus, these experiences have guided me toward an interest in digital marketing in the music industry.
Furthermore, I am the manager of my school's a cappella ensemble, Acabellas. As manager, I am responsible for running the group's social media accounts, organizing their wardrobe for performances, and booking various shows. For instance, I organized a performance for the group at a nearby Relay for Life event. This specific role has led me to the desire for learning more about artist management, and the different tasks that are involved in ensuring the success of an artist.
In addition to Acabellas, I also manage the social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter) for my school's choir department, where I promote choir concerts and organize additional shows as well, such as an annual choir sponsored Coffee House event at my school, allowing for student musicians to showcase their talent.
Overall, I intend to utilize my skills in communication, social media, and team work through higher education, while continuing to grow as an individual, actively contributing to my community, and learning the "behind the scenes" of music.
